Sintered metal filters are durable porous metal filtration products made from stainless steel wire mesh, metal powder, or metal fiber felt through a high-temperature sintering process. Compared with ordinary woven wire mesh or disposable filter media, sintered metal filters offer higher mechanical strength, stable filtration accuracy, good corrosion resistance, and long service life.
Kawen supplies different types of sintered metal filters, including sintered filter elements, sintered wire mesh, sintered powder metal filters, and sintered metal fiber felt. They can be manufactured into filter cartridges, filter tubes, filter discs, filter cylinders, filter plates, and custom filter assemblies according to drawings or application requirements.
Sintered Filter Media Types
Sintered Wire Mesh
Sintered wire mesh is made by sintering several layers of stainless steel wire mesh together. It is the most commonly used materials for sintered filter elements, offering a good balance of strength, filtration performance, cleanability, and cost. It is suitable for filter discs, plates, cylinders, and cartridges that require pressure resistance, repeated cleaning, and stable support. For very fine filtration, especially below 10 microns, powder sintered filters may provide more uniform pore distribution. Learn More
Sintered Powder Metal
Sintered powder metal filters are made from metal powder through molding and high-temperature sintering. Its main advantage is uniform pore distribution and precise filtration accuracy, so it is suitable for applications that require stable micron-level filtration, such as gas filtration, liquid filtration, sparging, fluidization, and compact filter parts. Compared with sintered wire mesh, the flow rate may be lower under the same size, but it is a good choice when fine and stable filtration is more important.
Sintered Metal Fiber Felt
Sintered metal fiber felt is made from fine metal fibers through laying, pressing, and sintering. Its main advantage is high porosity, good permeability, and large dirt-holding capacity, so it is suitable for high-flow filtration, high-temperature filtration, polymer filtration, burner systems, and applications where long service life and high flow rate are important. Compared with sintered wire mesh, it may need more careful handling and structural support in some filter element designs, but it offers better permeability and dirt-holding performance.
