Sintered metal fiber felt is a porous metal material made from fine metal fibers through laying, pressing, and high-temperature sintering. The randomly arranged fibers form a three-dimensional porous structure with high porosity, good permeability, and large dirt-holding capacity.
Because of its open porous structure, sintered metal fiber felt is not only used as filter media, but also as a functional metal material for gas distribution, burner systems, sound absorption, flow control, diffusion, and high-temperature industrial applications. It is widely used in polymer filtration, hot gas filtration, burner components, gas-liquid separation, industrial silencers, and custom porous metal parts.
For filter elements that require higher mechanical strength or repeated cleaning, metal fiber felt can be combined with wire mesh, perforated metal, or other support layers. Kawen supplies sintered metal fiber felt in sheets, rolls, discs, pleated filter cartridges, and custom filter elements according to customer requirements.
Product Forms
Unsupported Metal Fiber Felt
Unsupported metal fiber felt is a single-layer or multi-layer fiber felt material without additional protective mesh or support mesh. It has a simple structure and lower material cost, making it a more cost-effective choice for sheets, filter discs, and applications where the felt can be supported by the equipment structure. It also offers high porosity, good permeability, and large dirt-holding capacity.
Supported Metal Fiber Felt
Supported metal fiber felt is combined with protective mesh, support mesh, sintered wire mesh, or perforated metal to improve strength, stability, cleaning durability, and service life. It is commonly used for pleated filter cartridges, welded filter elements, high-pressure filtration, and applications requiring better mechanical support.
Materials Available
- Stainless steel fiber felt is the most commonly used material for general industrial filtration. It offers good corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and stable performance, and is suitable for liquid filtration, gas filtration, polymer filtration, pleated filter cartridges, and custom filter elements. Common grades include 316L, 304, and 310S.
- FeCrAl fiber felt has excellent high-temperature resistance and oxidation resistance. It is mainly used in burner systems, hot gas filtration, combustion media, exhaust gas treatment, and other high-temperature environments where thermal stability is important.
- Nickel fiber felt provides good electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance, and chemical compatibility in specific environments. It can be used for filtration, battery components, electrochemical applications, gas diffusion layers, and custom porous metal parts.
- Titanium fiber felt offers excellent corrosion resistance, low density, and good chemical stability. It is suitable for corrosive chemical environments, seawater-related applications, electrochemical components, hydrogen energy applications, porous transport layers, and special filtration systems.
