Stainless steel filter mesh discs are processed from stainless steel woven wire mesh, perforated metal, expanded metal, or multi-layer wire mesh. They are commonly used as small filter parts in liquid filtration, gas filtration, screening, separation, and equipment protection.
Compared with ordinary cut mesh pieces, stainless steel filter discs can be supplied with different edge treatments, such as plain edge, welded edge, spot-welded layers, aluminum rim, stainless steel rim, or copper rim. These structures help improve shape stability and make the discs easier to install in filtration equipment.
Kawen manufactures stainless steel filter mesh discs in different materials, mesh counts, diameters, shapes, layers, and edge types. Standard and custom sizes are available according to samples, drawings, or application requirements.

Material Characteristics
- 304 stainless steel filter discs are suitable for general filtration, screening, and equipment protection. They are widely used because of their good corrosion resistance and cost performance.
- 316 stainless steel filter discs contain molybdenum and provide better corrosion resistance than 304 stainless steel, especially in chemical and chloride environments.
- 316L stainless steel filter discs have lower carbon content than 316 and are suitable for welded structures, chemical filtration, marine environments, and applications requiring better resistance after welding.
- Other Stainless Steel Grades: 310S, 2205, 2507, 904L, and other stainless steel grades can be selected for high-temperature, strong corrosion, or special industrial applications.
Structural Characteristics
- Precision Mesh Construction: Metal filter mesh discs are fabricated using advanced weaving or sintering techniques to achieve uniform mesh openings, ensuring consistent filtration accuracy. Weaving methods include plain weave, twill weave, and Dutch weave, with Dutch weave offering finer filtration (down to 1 micron) due to its tightly packed wires.
- Reinforced Edges: To enhance structural stability and ease of installation, many discs feature reinforced edges—such as crimped, welded, or flanged borders. These edges prevent fraying, improve handling, and ensure a secure fit in filter housings or machinery.
- Multi-Layer Design: For complex filtration needs, multi-layered discs combine different mesh densities or materials to achieve graded filtration (removing particles of varying sizes in a single pass) or enhanced strength. This design is particularly useful in high-pressure applications where durability is critical.
- Customizable Thickness and Rigidity: Discs can be manufactured with varying thicknesses (from 0.1mm to 5mm) to balance flexibility and rigidity. Thicker discs are ideal for high-pressure environments, while thinner options offer lightweight performance in low-stress applications.
